copy++ Browser Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the copy++ Browser extension for Chrome and Edge. The extension provides a browser context-menu and keyboard-shortcut workflow for saving selected text, image URLs, or images and pasting saved items into editable fields.
Data the extension handles
The extension handles only data needed for its copy and paste features:
- Text that you explicitly save from a web page selection.
- Image source URLs and image files that you explicitly save from the browser context menu.
- Page titles and page URLs for saved browser items, so copy++ can optionally include source links when pasting.
- Local extension settings, such as whether to include source links when pasting and whether downloads use newest-first order.
- Saved items that you explicitly paste into a browser text field or editable page area.
- Temporary in-page selection or editable-field state used to place pasted text where you requested it.
How data is used
Saved text, image URLs, images, page titles, and page URLs are used only to provide the extension's multi-copy and paste features. The extension shows recent saved items in its browser context menus and popup, combines saved items when you choose to paste all items, optionally appends source links when you enable that setting, downloads saved items as a text file, PDF, or saved image when you request it, and lets you delete saved items or clear the saved list.
How data is stored
Saved text, image URLs, stack metadata, and extension settings are stored locally in your browser profile using Chrome extension local storage. Saved image files are stored locally in browser IndexedDB. The extension keeps up to 100 saved items. This data remains on your device unless you delete individual items, clear all saved items, remove the extension, or clear the browser profile data that stores extension data.
Data sharing and transmission
The extension does not sell, share, transmit, or upload your saved items, selections, images, image URLs, saved page titles, saved page URLs, browsing activity, or form contents to the developer or to any third party. The extension does not use analytics, advertising trackers, external services, remote code, or user accounts.
Permissions
The extension requests browser permissions to support its single purpose:
- contextMenus: adds copy++ save, paste, delete, and clear menu items.
- storage: stores saved items, image metadata, and settings locally in the browser profile.
- activeTab and scripting: saves selected text and inserts pasted text after you invoke the extension.
- clipboardWrite: writes pasted text to the clipboard as a fallback when direct insertion is unavailable and writes saved images to the clipboard when you choose the image copy action.
- downloads: saves your saved copy++ items as a text file, PDF, or saved image when you choose a download action.
- Host access for all URLs: enables the content script and paste workflow on the pages where you choose to use copy++ and fetches an image file only after you choose the save image action.
User control
You can remove saved entries with the delete menu, clear all saved entries with the clear menu, change extension settings from the copy++ context menu, or uninstall the extension at any time.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated policy will be posted at this same page with a new last-updated date.
